The University Institute for European Studies, Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at CEU San Pablo University in Madrid, organizes the International Conference New perspectives on Francisco de Vitoria: Does international law lie at the heart of the origin of the modern world? The objective is to establish an international forum for reflection and discussion about the role that Francisco de Vitoria has played in history and the origins of modernity.

This is an ambitious project through which we hope to attract the attention of the main academics that have been writing about Francisco de Vitoria in recent years. It will be a multidisciplinary event in which not only Public International lawyers and academics but also Historians, Anthropologists and Philosophers are welcome to participate.

In the Conference, selected Working papers submitted by researches will be presented.
