CIDRA: Europe-Africa Academic Network
CIDRA (Creating a Joint Infrastructure for Dialogue, Research and Advocacy between Europe and Africa) is a Jean Monnet network funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme (ERASMUS-JMO-2024-NETWORK). The project brings together 13 universities, including CEU San Pablo University, as well as Roma 3, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Halmstad University, Addis Ababa University, SIMAD University and the University of Johannesburg, with the aim of strengthening academic and strategic links between Europe and Africa.
In this context, CIDRA contributes to the academic dialogue that can support broader initiatives such as the Global Gateway Africa-Europe Investment Package, the EU’s strategy to boost joint investment with Africa in key sectors such as the energy transition, digital and transport connectivity, sustainable growth, and education and training. This approach aims to guide strategic decisions and investments.
The project is structured around three main areas of work:
- To promote research and academic dialogue between Europe and Africa, creating a space for collaboration between universities on both continents.
- To bridge the gap between academic knowledge and public debate through conferences, workshops and meetings with policymakers and private-sector stakeholders.
- To share and disseminate knowledge through publications, educational resources and teaching modules that enhance the teaching and understanding of cooperation between Europe and Africa.
